Ingredients
- 3 pounds Rock Cornish Hens 1 1/4 lb. each
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sage
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup chicken bouillon
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
- 1/2 teaspoon imitation butter flavoring
- 3 medium apples, sliced
Directions
Sprinkle hens, inside and out, with a mixture of salt, sage, nutmeg, and garlic powder. Combine bouillon, lemon juice, orange extract, and butter flavoring; reserving 1/2 cup, brush mixture over hens. Roast, uncovered, at 325 degrees, (slow oven) 45 minutes, or until birds are tender and drumsticks move easily. Baste with bouillon mixture several times during cooking. Cook apple slices in reserved mixture until tender but firm, adding water if necessary. Use as a garnish. Remove skin from hens before serving. Divide evenly for 6 servings.
